This is a great pad especially if you don’t want the thickness UNDER the saddle of a full sheepskin pad. It fits my Bates 17 1/2″ saddle perfectly.I bought the black with white sheepskin, (it’s is off white”). I wanted a pad with protection but not bulk under the saddle. The sheepskin trim is not quite as thick/fluffy as I had expected but it is nice. I haven’t washed it yet.

I spent a number of hours researching what to get for my daughters pony to go under the dressage saddle. We had such good results adding a custom, impact reducing saddle cushion to her jump saddle, it was obvious to do this for her dressage saddle also. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the custom pads was not able to set up another cushion for our dressage saddle as he spends his winters in Texas (I’m Pacific NW) I wanted a pad right away so I ordered this thin line product, the medium size is perfect for our 14.2h connemara under a 16.5″ saddle seat (she has a longer back). It has made a noticable difference and when the saddle comes off, i can visibly see there is overall uniformity to how the rider’s weight is dispersed. Nice quality and I LOVE the wool, that is why I bought this thin line versus the other option. Looks so nice with the dressage saddle!

This is the best half pad. It’s so slim, no added bulk. If you’re between this and an Ogilvy Half Pad, go with this one. (Personal take – I’ve known ppl who have Ogilvy Half pads and they’re fine for some people, others I’ve seen it cause back-soreness…. Like how can a half pad be so bad it makes a saddle that fits a horse, fit poorly….So yeah go with the ThinLine or Equifit, imo).
Easy to shim. Gives me confidence I’m putting something quality on the horses I borrow and lease and exercise. Definitely noticed a difference the first time I used The ThinLine Hald Pad transitioning from my regular Ovation Half pad, my horse opened up through his spine and shoulders much more smoothly, and and freer range of movement.
I have mine in black with natural sheepskin, classic look and easy to keep clean.

I didn’t like… On the black one you can see the white backing from the wool, from front profile it made the pad look very cheap. I didn’t like the shimming system the shims are very thin you could scrunch it up in your hand like paper, just like Mattes, I am not convinced these shims don’t scrunch up during use.
I didn’t like there were only 2 pockets to shim, I don’t need to shim the middle, so not confident the rear pad wouldn’t shift around since there was only 2 pockets.
I am used to closed cell pads like that from pro lite. I settled for a Le Mieux 3 pocket shimmable pad. Shim from the top.
I did order a Le Mieux from smartpak but it seemed that the shims went in the pad from underneath which meant they would be directly on the horses back, never done it that way before, it doesn’t make sense to do it directly on the back.
I didn’t like the body of this pad it was some kind of plastic normally it’s cotton. I think it would be durable but also make the horse too hot plastic and wool too much for CA weather.
I would not recommend this.

We use these pads at my lesson barn. The saddles fit the ponies and horses very well but this half pad adds to their comfort. I’ve been eyeing it for months for my horses but it is pricey. This sale was the incentive I needed.

I have 8 of these for my horses. Almost every horse every lesson or show uses one. The money I spend on these has saved me more than their value in chiro and acupuncture care. I’ve been impressed ever since I bought my first one! My go to on a sore backed horse is this on top of a back on track pad. Still have issues? Time for the vet and/or saddle fitter.

I bought the ThinLine Trifecta Half Pad with Sheepskin Rolls for a hard to fit horse, who needed shims while he developed muscle and topline after coming off the track. I appreciate the design of the pad, which the ThinLine shims can easy slide into the bottom portion of the pad and can be layered and cut for a customizable fit. I also love the ThinLine technology for both horse and rider! I felt that the shock absorption and protection was really important for this horse while he had some reactive behaviors from poor saddle fit. The pad is contoured so I did not have to worry about it sitting low on my OTTB’s shark fin withers. I also appreciate that the pad is so versatile and practical for both schooling and showing. The ThinLine Trifecta Half Pad with Sheepskin Rolls is easy to spot clean with mild sheepskin cleaner and water, but it can also be washed for a deeper clean in the washing machine! The pad has held up great, and is great to have on hand for those hard to fit horses!
